George Barrera is a third-year Ph.D. candidate in Chemical Engineering. In 2022, he graduated from Weber State University with a B.S. in Biochemistry and a B.S. in Microbiology. George attended Weber on an athletic scholarship, playing football for the Wildcats all four years. The focus of George’s research is grafting hydrophilic coatings to the surface of medical devices using photopolymerization to mitigate foreign body response and improve the efficacy of medical devices. 

George is from Boise, ID, and enjoys listening to audiobooks, lifting/making workout programs, and hiking.
