Biography

Jacob Thompson is an undergraduate research assistant from Fayetteville, Arkansas who joined the Worthington Lab in Fall 2017. He is studying Biomedical Engineering at the University of Iowa and plans on graduating in Spring 2020. Following his graduation, he plans on attending graduate school to purse a PhD in biomedical engineering. Following graduate studies, he wants to pursue further research and development at a biotechnology company. 

Currently, Jacob is working to optimize the parameters for the fabrication of hydrogels using biopolymers as a means to transport photoreceptor cells into the retina. He has also cultured and maintained retinal progenitor cells to test the biocompatibility of tissue scaffolds.
