Josiah Power

Graduate Research Assistant
Biography

Josiah Power is a Ph.D. student in Chemical Engineering, co-advised by Dr. Kristan Worthington and Dr. Eric Nuxoll. He completed a master's degree in chemical engineering with a focus in mechanobiology from Johns Hopkins University in 2025 and earned bachelor's degrees in chemical engineering, biochemistry, and molecular biology alongside a minor in chemistry from the University of Iowa in 2024. His primary focus in life is developing and applying cutting-edge computational and AI tools in chemical and biological systems. He also does side quests in experimental biology with the goals of (1) developing a heat-based treatment to eliminate biofilms in situ that are growing on medical devices, and (2) understanding stem cell lineage commitment.

Outside of the laboratory, Josiah enjoys mountain hiking, ultimate frisbee, playing with fire and pressurized gases, listening to classical music (Chopin/Beethoven/Liszt), and destroying the hopes and dreams of other chess players.
